Verizon

Verizon

Verizon Native Core is now available via the Teal Network App Store. The credential is provided by first party Verizon, and utilizes Verizon’s full core network. These rules do not apply to AVT credentials where Verizon access is provided as a roaming backup.

Network Types

CATM, LTE, and 5G-NSA are supported, including 5G UW.

NB-IoT is available on a request basis.

APN Compatibility

“teal” is the default APN for US usage.

“VZWINTERNET” should be used if devices are traveling outside of the US into Mexico or Canada.

Meerkat Compatibility

Meerkat is not yet supported, but will be in the near future. We will update this page with information as Meerkat becomes available.

SMS Compatibility

MO/MT SMS is supported, but not yet through our SMS API.

Device Compatibility - First Use

In addition to the special LTE/5G bands that Verizon uses, there is also a couple requirements where the device identifiers are used to approve access to the network by the network provider.

These steps must be undertaken before a production deployment is allowed by the network:

  • Verizon Network Approval

    • The device must be on the approved list of Verizon equipment in the Open Development Portal. This is typically done by your module or modem vendor.

  • Verizon eUICC Approval

    • This step is done by the Teal solutions team, and it involves a test device (IMEI + eID) attempting a download of the eSIM network credential profile successfully. Once it is validated by our Solution team, the device model is unlocked by Verizon for future download activations without uploading the IMEI to TEAL.

Device Compatibility

Verizon-network certified IoT devices operating approved IoT use cases are supported.

Verizon-network certified Consumer devices (iPads, Phones) operating approved IoT use cases are supported only after a special configuration is done within Verizon’s backend system to allow for an M2M type eUICC installation rather than a Consumer type eUICC.

After your device is onboarded per the first-use instructions above, the Teal system will automatically collect IMEI information and provide that to Verizon for activation purposes.

Plan Assignment

Each Verizon profile is uniquely assigned to one Teal eID and IMEI and can not be swapped between devices. Switching eSIMs between devices is not supported.

An eSIM on a Verizon profile is not allowed to change device because the card is mapped to the IMEI of the first device it’s used with and won’t work with a another IMEI.
